Mississippi Severe Storms, Tornadoes, Straight-line Winds, And Flooding, Clarke, Covington, Grenada, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lawrence, Panola, Walthall

Families and households in Clarke, Covington, Grenada, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lawrence, Panola and Walthall counties who suffered damage as a result of the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding on April 12, may be eligible for disaster assistance.

 Individuals and households in Clarke, Covington, Grenada, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones,  Lawrence, Panola and Walthall counties have until June 15, 2020 to register with FEMA for assistance.These counties have been designated by the President as a major disaster which makes disaster assistance available to eligible disaster survivors.

Families and households in Bradley and Hamilton counties who suffered damage as a result of the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding on April 12, may be eligible for disaster assistance.

Ways to Register:

  • Social Security number
  • Address of the damaged home or apartment
  • Description of the damage
  • Information about insurance coverage
  • A current contact telephone number
  • An address where you can receive mail
  • Bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds
  • Total household annual income

Notice:   FEMA reminds Tennesseans who have received federal disaster assistance to use the money for its intended purpose and to keep receipts for three years.Disaster assistance is intended to help residents meet basic disaster-related needs. A letter explaining what the payment is to be used for arrives within a day or two of the check or direct deposit payment.If applicants spend the payment on anything other than the purpose for which it is intended, they may be denied future disaster assistance. In some cases, FEMA may ask that the money be returned.

The 504 Loan Program provides approved small businesses with long-term, fixed-rate financing used to acquire fixed assets for expansion or modernization.  504 loans are made available through Certified Development Companies (CDCs), SBA's community based partners for providing 504 Loans.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR PUBLISHES GUIDANCE ON PANDEMIC UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE

PUA provides up to 39 weeks of benefits to qualifying individuals who are otherwise able to work and available for work within the meaning of applicable state law, except that they are unemployed, partially unemployed, or unable or unavailable to work due to COVID-19 related reasons, as defined in the CARES Act. Benefit payments under PUA are retroactive, for weeks of unemployment, partial employment, or inability to work due to COVID-19 reasons starting on or after January 27, 2020. The CARES Act specifies that PUA benefits cannot be paid for weeks of unemployment ending after December 31, 2020.
