A TEACH Grant can help you pay for college if you plan to become a teacher in a high-need field in a low-income area.

 A Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is different from other federal student grants because it requires you to agree to complete four years of qualifying teaching as a condition for getting the grant; and if you don't complete your teaching service obligation, the grant will turn into a loan that you must repay in full, with interest.

A TEACH-Grant-eligible program is a program of study that is designed to prepare you to teach as a highly qualified teacher in a high-need field and that leads to a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or is a postbaccalaureate program. A two-year program that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree is considered a program that leads to a bachelor’s degree. A postbaccalaureate program is not TEACH-Grant-eligible if it is offered by a school that also offers a bachelor’s degree in education.

Schools that participate in the TEACH Grant Program determine which of the programs they offer are TEACH-Grant-eligible. A program that is TEACH-Grant-eligible at one school might not be TEACH-Grant-eligible at another school. Additionally, even if a program meets the eligibility requirements to be a TEACH-Grant-eligible program, it may not be designated as TEACH-Grant-eligible by the school. Contact the financial aid office at the school you are attending (or that you plan to attend) to find out which programs at that school are eligible.

The Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) welcomes for-hire companies, drivers, and innovators whom are eligible to apply for grant programs designed to enhance the DC transportation experience for all DC residents, drivers, and visitors alike.  The Department of For-Hire Vehicles is offering grant funding to fulfill the regulatory responsibility to support the economic viability of the for-hire industry and to enhance customer choice. DFHV is subjected to regulatory requirements and amendments, the DFHV is authorized to provided grants to owners of licensed taxicabs legally operating and incorporated in the District for purposes outlined in D.C. Official Code § 50-301.20 (b) (1).

The third round of Economic Impact Payments are being sent in phases.

Each week we're sending the third round of Economic Impact Payments to eligible individuals as we continue to process tax returns. If you haven't received a payment yet, it doesn't mean you won't.

Payments are sent by direct deposit or mail as a check or debit card.

How will the IRS send my economic impact payment (EIP) for Corona epodemic (stimulus check)

If you filed a 2019 or 2018 tax return: Your $1,200 EIP was or will be sent to the bank account provided on your tax return for an electronic tax refund, or mailed to the address provided on your tax return if a tax refund was mailed or if there was no refund.

If you did not file a 2019 or 2018 tax return:

• An Individual Representative Payee should begin receiving EIPs on May 28 (revised from May 22) to the same direct deposit account or Direct Express card as the recipient’s monthly Social Security or SSI payment. The mailing of paper check EIPs to payees will begin May 27.
• For an Organizational Representative Payee, the schedule above is the same, except that the payee may receive the EIP electronically or by paper check in the mail.

Information Regarding Economic Impact Payments for Social Security

The Social Security Administration issued an update today about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments (EIP) to certain groups of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries. Beneficiaries who have their regular monthly payments managed for them by another person, called a representative payee, will begin receiving their EIPs from the IRS in late May.

COVID-19 Small Grants Program by U S Mission to India. Corona funding in India

This funding opportunity seeks to support effective coalitions that will bolster and leverage U.S.-India collaboration across a range of fields to fight COVID-19, in India and globally. Potential grantees should be able to implement a small-grants program to promote innovation in addressing COVID-19, encourage partnerships between U.S. and Indian institutions and organizations in combating COVID-19, and facilitate joint action that makes a difference against the disease. The grant will provide resources for a grantee to manage and administer small grants to stakeholders from government organizations, non-profits, think tanks, academic institutions, incubators and accelerators, in close coordination with the U.S. Mission to India. The grantee will be required to solicit proposals that contribute to and/or build upon initiatives that counter the impact of COVID-19 on Indian society, U.S.-India cooperation, and wider communities across the Indo-Pacific region. Projects may include, but are not limited to, the following:  

•  Support accurate and authentic public messaging on COVID-19 topics to combat misinformation, such as official CDC/HHS information that can be shared by civil society/NGOs in English, Hindi, and other vernacular languages.
• Help and build capacity of local NGOs to engage communities in virtual/online conversations, given current public gathering restrictions (e.g. virtual speaker program on how NGOs can support community resilience and recovery in the aftermath of a pandemic). 
• Encourage academic and R&D institutions, business associations, and NGOs to either forge new partnerships with U.S. institutions and organizations, or further strengthen and expand existing ones, for intensive collaboration in innovation, entrepreneurship, business development, and public-private partnership in order to advance new public health solutions. 
• Organize capacity-building workshops, mentoring programs, and webinars for startups and innovators working in the field of COVID-19 to maintain strong operations during this challenging time, enhance competitiveness, and better prepare the startup network in India to successfully engage with partners, investors and governments to develop effective public health solutions. Bring into the effort U.S. institutions, mentors and expertise, to help lead capacity-building exercises.    
• Other project ideas that promote U.S.-India cooperation in combating COVID-19.
