HHS/CMS National Health Insurance Marketplace Stakeholder Call
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is inviting you to the National Health Insurance Marketplace Stakeholder Conference Call on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET.
HHS is deeply committed to public participation as it builds a new Health Insurance Marketplace in several states. Through an ongoing stakeholder consultation process, we have sought input from a wide-range of interested stakeholders, including states, issuers, and consumers in State Partnership Marketplace and Federally-facilitated Marketplace states.
The goal of this national call is to keep stakeholders updated on the operational execution of the Marketplace as well as for CMS to hear directly from individuals and organizations that will be able to utilize the new Marketplace. This process will allow interested parties to understand how the Marketplace will work and when it will be ready.
This national call will kick-off the next phase of our stakeholder engagement to be followed by quarterly calls held by the CMS regional offices throughout 2013. CMS will use the information and feedback provided in the stakeholder consultation process in the development of the Marketplace.
The call will feature CMS senior officials followed by time for Q&A. Speakers are:

Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Webinar:
Who’s Leading the Leading Health Indicators?
This webinar will focus on reducing and preventing childhood obesity through community-wide change. This is one in a series of webinars from the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) and the public health initiative titled Healthy People 2020.
March 21, 2013 | 12–12:45 PM EST
Many Americans live, learn, work, and play in neighborhoods that lack grocery stores, walkable streets, and other features necessary for healthy eating and adequate physical activity.1 In fact, most Americans do not eat a healthy diet and are not physically active at levels needed to maintain proper health. This has contributed to a dramatic increase in adult and childhood obesity, which is particularly troubling as obesity puts individuals at increased risk for heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes, which are among the leading causes of death.2 Supporting good nutrition, increasing physical activity, and addressing the policies and environmental factors that impact these issues are critical steps in improving public health.
Join us on Thursday, March 21, at 12:00 PM EST as we highlight the success of one community-wide partnership in reducing childhood obesity through community outreach, advocacy, education, policy development, and environmental change. This 45-minute Webinar will be led by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Howard Koh, and will include a roundtable discussion on the impact of this critical Leading Health Indicator topic.
